Flights / Location:
Kashi is located on the east coast of Florida in Sebastian about 15 minutes from the Atlantic Ocean. The two best airports are Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale. The Uber ride from Orlando is approximately $100 and about 1 1/2 hrs. There are smaller airports in Melbourne and Vero that are closer.
VERDE:
An evening of bamboo art and bamboo hors d’oeuvres. This is a first ever exhibit focussing on bamboo as an art medium. The exotic curves of places like The Green School have highlighted the incredible flexibility of bamboos and their infinite possibilities in creative endeavors. The American Bamboo Society sponsors an art contest that aims to highlight bamboo art and the extraordinary artists who work with them. Please join us in exploring the options of bamboos in the art realm. We will also have bamboo delicacies for you to taste as we aim to immerse you in the varied possibilities that bamboos offer. BAMBOOSA:
Microtalks An evening of short, 10 minute, inspiring talks on bamboos. Think TED talks focusing on these amazing woody grasses and their uses. This can be with or without pictures. There will also be a fire show and sword demonstration to add an element of flare to the evening. CONFERENCE INFO:
This year’s conference has a variety of ways to engage with bamboo and learn from world renown experts. The conference is two days of lectures and hands on activities and includes three meals with your weekend pass. (Housing is sold separately)
Friday and Saturday evening events follow dinner and are intended to spark interest in creative ways. (Tickets are available for just evening events)
Tickets are also available for just Saturday or just Friday and include 3 meals and evening activities.
Workshops are scheduled for Sunday October 23rd and Monday Oct 24th. There is a construction workshop (1 or 2 days), a fence building workshop, and a flute making workshop. These tickets are sold separately from the conference and offer in depth training into the specific areas of focus.
Sunday Funday! This is a day where we invite the community to learn about bamboos. We have a variety of speakers covering basic information about bamboos including how to grow in Florida, maintenance with equipment, plant walks showcasing the flowering cycles, and use in the permaculture landscape. We have bamboo yoga and bamboo dance and a wide variety of vendors showcasing bamboo foods, medicines, books, and hand crafted products.
